Nearby attractions include the scenic Vai Beach, the uninhabited Isle of Chrysi, the historic Toplou Monastery and wine shop, the Richtis Gorge, and the Cave of Diktaion Andron, believed to be Zeus' birthplace. Also close by is the charming town of Agios Nikolaos, with its scenic lake and archaeological and folk museums. Goudouras is 37 km east of Ierapetra and 73 km southeast of Agios Nikolaos.
